The purpose of Paddle the Potomac is to connect recreational paddlers with experiences of authentic natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources on and around the Potomac River where they can experience its history and enjoy its natural beauty.
The primary listings included within Paddle the Potomac are individual places which can be incorporated in the content management system (CMS). These places must have the following characteristics:
Typical examples of sites include: national and state parks; state and national wildlife refuges and wildlife management areas; historic sites; historic museums; water and land trails; nature centers and preserves.
The National Park Service Chesapeake Office and Chesapeake Conservancy retain the rights to all images used on www.paddlethepotomac.com. Some materials have been donated or obtained from individuals or organizations and may be subject to additional restrictions on use. Permission to use images from www.paddlethepotomac.com must be obtained in writing.
Interested partners, government organizations, nonprofit and educational institutions may use imagery, video and audio material for educational or informational purposes, including photo collections, textbooks, public exhibits and Internet Web pages by e-mailing Kelsey Everett with the following information: 1.) Name of Organization requesting permission; 2.) Contact person including mailing address, phone number and e-mail address; 3.) Intended use of photo (i.e. web, publication, slide show); and, 4.) duration of use.
